ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team opened its home and conference schedule with a memorable comeback, defeating Trine University by a score of 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trine's only set victory came in the opening set, winning 25-19. The set was close throughout most of the action, but the Thunder started pulling away late and rattled off a 7-2 run to finish the set.
The second set was decided by the largest margin and it was Adrian jumping out to a 5-1 lead and controlling the match from there. The Bulldogs never trailed in the second set and won the set 25-17.
Neither team could pull ahead in the third set, with the largest lead being four points until the Black and Gold stretched out a six-point lead at 23-17. Trine attempted a comeback but Adrian was able to fend the Thunder off to take the set 25-22.
Trine came out hot in the fourth set, desperate to send the match into a fifth set. The Thunder opened the set up with a 10-4 lead before the Bulldogs started clawing back into the set. Adrian was trailing 19-12 before going on a 13-4 run to win the match, including five straight points to seal the deal in one of the best single-set comebacks Adrian has had in Kwan era.
TOP DOGS
• Senior Olivia Welch led the Bulldogs in kills with 16 and added 15 digs and two service aces.
• Sophomore Liz Susitko was Adrian's leader in assists and digs, with 30 assists and 22 digs. Junior Megan Prsa contributed 16 digs on defense.
• Sophomore Alex Tobler also totaled double digit kills, finishing the match with 12.
THE OPPOSITION
• Madison Munger led the Trine offense with 16 kills.
• Raven Hood led the Thunder in assists with 23.
• Trine's defense was led by Kendra Nicley and Lindsey DeCamp with 26 and 21 digs, respectively.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs travel to Albion on Saturday, Sep. 22 for a conference match with the Britons and a rematch with Capital University in a doubleheader. The Bulldogs defeated the Crusaders 3-1 on Sep. 1 as part of the Capital/Otterbein Classic.
