ADRIAN, Mich. -
The ACHA men's hockey team defeated the Buffalo Bulls 6-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are now 6-6 overall early in the season.
Justen Mitchell scored an unassited goal to get Adrian on the scoreboard early in the first period. Jared Semple scored his first goal of the game off an assist from Mark Eberline to put the Bulldogs on top 2-0.
There were five goals scored early in the second period. Jim Scullion scored two minutes into the period off an assist from Tony Aukskalnis. Semple scored his second goal of the game at the 2:15 mark off another assist from Eberline.
Buffalo responded by scoring back-to-back goals to make the score 4-2. Pat Beyer and Alex Neal each scored a goal for the Bulls.
Chad Bonmon was able to swing the momentum back in Adrian's when he scored a goal at the 6:51 mark to increase the lead to 5-2. Semple wrapped up his hat trick with a power play goal at the 9:03 mark in the third period. Dominic Scala earned the assist on the goal. Buffalo was unable to capitalize on their power play opportunites as they went 1-for-11. Adrian was able to convert two times on nine attempts.
The Bulldogs kept the Buffalo goaltender under pressure all game as Adrian posted 39 shots on goal compared to 15 from Buffalo. Anthony Wolak finished the game with 13 saves for the Bulldogs.
The team will host Oakland on Friday, Oct. 31st at 7:00 p.m.
