ANN ARBOR, Mich. -
The men's ACHA ice hockey team defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles to record their first win of the season on Friday night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The game remained scoreless after the first period of play, but the second period belonged to the Bulldogs.
Zach Fowler scored the first goal of the game for AC off an assist from Jason Knutson nearly two minutes into the second period. Tim Carlson pushed the lead to 2-0 on a power play goal less than a minute after the first goal of the game. Andrew Adams was credited with an assist on Carlson's first collegiate goal.
Freshman Steve Smith also scored his first collegiate goal off a power play in the third minute of the second period. Andrew Connelly earned the assist on the Smith goal. Senior Mark Eberline scored the final Bulldog goal late in the second period off an assist from Milo Miller.
The Eagles scored two power play goals in the third period. Joe Schweiger was credited with both power play goals. Ian Chornoby, Joakim Nilsson and Kevin Lapointe were all credited with an assist. EMU recorded 33 shots compared to 21 from the Bulldogs.
Freshman Anthony Wolak earned his first win as the goalie for Adrian. The Bulldogs will return to action Saturday night when the team will host Eastern Michigan at the Arrington Ice Arena at 7:00 p.m.
