The Adrian College ACHA team traveled to Ithaca, New York to play a two game series against the Niagara Purple Eagles over the weekend. The Bulldogs were defeated 5-4 on Friday night, but were able to come back and win 3-2 during Saturday's contest.
Jimmy Scullion scored the first goal of the game on Friday night. Niagara tied the score at 1-1, but Mike Yakamovich regained the lead for Adrian less than a minute later. The first period would end in a tie as David DeMizio scored for the Purple Eagles.
Tony Aukskalnis scored a power play goal to start the second period, but Niagara took control of the game by scoring three goals that period. Trevor Markovich scored the lone goal in the third period. The Purple Eagles held on to earn the 5-4 victory.
Niagara got off to a fast start in game two. The Purple Eagles scored two goals in the first period, and took a 2-0 advantage into the first intermission. Adrian used the second period to tie the game at 2-2. The Bulldogs scored the final goal of the game in the third to pick up the 3-2 win.
Kevin Allaer scored an unassisted goal in the second period, and Matthew Prince tied the game with a power play goal off an assist from Aukskalnis and Justen Mitchell.
Jared Semple scored the game-winning goal in the third period. Semple was assisted on the play by Mark Eberline.
The Bulldogs will return to the ice on Jan. 16th with a match-up against Dearborn.
