YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The ACHA D1 hockey
team, ranked eighth in the nation, ran the table at the ACHA
Showcase over the weekend as they defeated Indiana University of
Pennsylvania, Youngstown State and Slippery Rock. The Bulldogs won
their three games by a combined 19-6. Their record now sits at 8-1
for the season.
On Friday, Adrian defeated IUP by the score of 6-3. The scoring
came quickly and often as seven goals were scored in the first
period alone. The Bulldogs jumped out early on a goal by sophomore

into the game. Junior Kyle Peterson
scored the Bulldogs fifth goal of the period nine seconds after IUP
scored and with only 45 seconds left in the period. Six different
Bulldog players scored, while sophomore Chris Dixon led all
players with two assists. Freshman Jason Spada made 27
saves in goal.
Saturday night was alright for the Bulldogs as they left the
Penguins out in the cold as they took down Youngstown State 9-0.
Junior Jack
Goodell led the team with three points, all assists. Senior Jared
Semple was second on the team with two assists. Similar to the
first game, all nine goals were scored by nine different Bulldogs,
three by the way of power play. Freshman Matt
Anderson made his first start in goal, while stopping six shots
en-route to the shutout.
On Sunday, Adrian defeated Slippery Rock 4-3 in what was the
toughest for the Bulldogs as several players were out due to
injury. The Bulldogs outshot The Rock 56-33 but good goaltending
kept them in the game. Sophomore Spencer
Bonomo netted the first hat-trick of the season as he scored
Adrian's first three goals of the game while Semple had the
game-winner. Spada played well in net for the Bulldogs as he
stopped 30 shots.
The Bulldogs will host Western Michigan on Friday, October 15 at
7:00 p.m.
