MARIETTA, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team will likely never want to go back to Don Schaly Stadium after what has transpired over the last two days. For the second straight day, the Bulldogs (31-11) led heading into the ninth inning. For the second straight day, the opposition rallied to hand Adrian a one-run loss. The Bulldogs led 2-0 with a single run in the third and sixth innings against Penn State-Altoona (29-12), but the Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to advance in the regional and send Adrian home. It is the first time in six regional appearances that the Bulldogs went 0-2.

David Partyka (8-2) looked strong over the first eight innings as he threw shutout ball at the Lions. He scattered six hits over the first eight innings, but ran into trouble as Matt Schmauder and Tyler Stiffler led off with back-to-back singles. Then it was Jimmy Baum who laced a double down the left field line which scored Schmauder and moved Stiffler to third base. With no outs, Tom Kelly grounded out to first base to keep the runners put. The next batter was Grady Luzier who was issued an intentional walk to load the bases with one out. Cord Heine then hit a walk-off, two-run double to the base of the wall in left field to score Stiffler with the tying run and Baum with the winning run. Partyka finished with 8.1 innings and allowed three earned runs and walked five with three strikeouts.

Brian Bilius had an RBI single in the third and finished 2-for-3 in his final game. Jake Cappelletty drove in the other run on a RBI groundout in the sixth. Michael Herzog finished a great regional going 2-for-3 with a walk in this game. Kyle Strawn and Nate Sarkissian each had hits for the Bulldogs who finished with six base-hits, but none for extra bases.
