ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division I men's hockey team completed the weekend sweep of Oakland University on Friday night, extending their win streak to 10 games.
The Bulldogs were led offensively by sophomore Ted Anstett (Waterloo, Ont.) and freshman Brad Kobryn (Burlington, Ont.) who each had two goals. Adrian also received goals from junior Andre Rakas (Holt, Mich.) and senior Darren Tarasoff (Castlegar, B.C.).
Anstett started the scoring at 18:04 in the first period with an assist going to Rakas. Kobryn would add to the Bulldogs lead with an assist from freshman Justin Fisher (Flushing, Mich.). Oakland would tie the game with two quick goals, before Rakas would score on the power play with assists from Kobryn and sophomore Chris Derochie (Rossland, B.C.). Oakland would again score to tie the game at 3-3 before the end of the first period.
Adrian would score three goals in the first four minutes of the second period to take a commanding lead. Tarasoff would get things started at the 19:22 mark with a power play goal assisted by Fisher. Less than two minutes later, Anstett would score with an assist from Robert Bodette (Garden, Mich.). Kobryn would finish the scoring for the Bulldogs at the 16:19 mark of the second with assists from Derochie and Rakas. Oakland would add a goal to make the final, 6-4.
The Bulldogs outshot the Grizzlies, 29-26, as sophomore goaltender Matt Schnoes (Plymouth, Mich.) finished the game with 22 saves. Adrian travels to Davenport on Friday before returning home to host Mercyhurst University Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Arrington Ice Arena.
