Men's ACHA Division 1 Ice Hockey

Bodette's Hat Trick Leads Adrian Icers Over UM-Dearborn 6-1

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division I men's hockey team remain undefeated on Thursday night with a 6-1 victory over the visiting University of Michigan at Dearborn Wolverines at Arrington Ice Arena, led by junior Bobby Bodette's (Garden, Mich.) three goals.

The Bulldogs victimized the Wolverines with three power-play goals on the evening, starting with Brad Kobryn's (Brighton, Ont.) 21st of the season, the only score of the first period. After Adrian goaltender Matt Schnoes (Plymouth, Mich.) had stopped a point-blank short-handed attempt by UM-Dearborn, Kobryn found himself all alone on a breakaway for the game's first goal.

The Wolverines' Andrew Palushaj scored an equalizer just 1:53 into the second period, but it was all Bulldogs from that point on. Bodette gave Adrian the lead once again, with an assist from Alex Dobrzeniecki (Fishers, Ind.) on an even strength goal at 11:08.

The Bulldogs then took advantage of a five-minute major checking from behind penalty to the Wolverines' Corey Staub, to score a pair of unassisted power-play goals to make the score 4-1 at the end of two periods. Adrian's Matt Zaremba (Gaylord, Mich.) was the first to score on the power-play, followed by Bodette's second goal near the end of the period.

Any chance of a Wolverine come back in the third period was squelched immediately by a Dobrzeniecki goal at the 2:19 mark, and then Bodette completed the hat trick with the game's final goal at 10:05. Both of Adrian's third period goals were assisted by sophomore Ted Anstett (Waterloo, Ont.).

The Wolverines did have many good scoring chances throughout the contest, getting off 35 shots on goal, but they were stymied throughout the evening by Schnoes, who was superb in net, making 34 saves while earning his seventh win of the year against no defeats.

The win pushes the Bulldogs record to 14-0, while the Wolverines fall to the .500 mark at 6-6. The two teams will face off again tomorrow night at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse starting at 7:30 p.m.
