ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division I men's hockey team returned to Arrington Ice Arena on Friday night and promptly ended their two-game losing streak by overpowering the Western Michigan University Stallions 7-1 in GLCHL action.
Brad Kobryn (Burlington, Ont.) led the Bulldogs attack, scoring a hat trick for Adrian, while the Bulldogs got single goals from Trevor Benaglio (Battle Creek, Mich.), Bobby Bodette (Garden, Mich.), Matt Zaremba (Gaylord, Mich.), and Chris Derochie (Rossland, B.C.).
The Bulldogs opened the scoring with the only two goals of the first period, scoring twice in the span of just 56 seconds on goals by Benaglio and Kobryn in the middle of the period.
The Bulldogs would do major damage in the second period, however, as Bobby Bodette made the score 3-0 before Western finally got on the board with their lone goal, scored by Cole Kapovich. But any thought of a Stallion comeback was quickly squelched as Adrian ran off three straight goals to end the period, as Kobryn sandwiched his second and third goals around Zaremba's goal as the Bulldogs skated off with a 6-1 advantage after two periods.
The third period was relatively quiet with just the lone Bulldog marker scored by Derochie to make the final score 7-1.
Both Josh Hosking (Oxford, Mich.) and Andre Rakas (Holt, Mich.) had big nights for Adrian, collecting three assists apiece to help the Bulldog attack.
The beneficiary of the seven goals of support was goaltender Matt Schnoes (Plymouth, Mich.) who made 24 saves in picking up his 10th win of the season.
