The Adrian College ACHA Division I hockey squad found themselves knocking on the door of the nation's top ten this week after they defeated Rochester 7-5 and 7-3 over the weekend to run their record to 7-1 for the season.
Thursday night's game in Rochester saw the Bulldogs jump to a 2-0 lead in the first period on even strength goals by sophomore forwards Nick Balavich and Zack McKay. The two squads traded two goals in period number two and added three goals each in a wild third period. Adrian's next five goals came from five different players, as senior defender Andre Rakas, sophomore forward Brad Kobryn, junior forward Ted Anstett, freshman forward Ken Winter and sophomore forward Justin Fisher all scored for the Bulldogs.
Friday night's contest was dominated by the Bulldogs, who outshot Rochester 38-26 and received a hat trick from Anstett, plus a pair of goals by freshman forward Tyler Duarte to subdue the Warriors. Adrian's other two goals were tallied by Kobryn and junior forward Chris Derochie.
The Bulldogs have just one game this week when they travel to Patterson Ice Arena on Friday night for an 8:30 tilt with the Davenport Panthers.
