The Adrian College Black Squad scored the game's final two goals on Friday night to earn a 5-5 tie with the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing.
The Bulldogs and Spartans were deadlocked at 3-3 after two periods, but Michigan State took command early in the third with a pair of goals less than a minute apart. The Spartans were unable to hold on to the lead, however, as sophomore forward Patrick Campbell brought the Bulldogs within one with a power play goal with 13:30 remaining. Just 38 seconds later sophomore forward Alex Armour would even the score for good. Both Adrian goals were assisted by freshman defenseman James Howell.
Adrian had taken a 2-1 advantage into the locker room after the first period as freshmen defender Anthony Longo and forward Adrien Sebag each scored goals late in the period to eradicate a 1-0 Spartan advantage. Sebag would score again in the second period for Adrian, but MSU tallied a pair of goals to even the score heading into the third period.
The home standing Spartans outshot the Bulldogs 39-38, as Adrian freshman goal tender Gilbert Oldreive made 34 saves.
Adrian record is now 1-5-1 while Michigan State is 3-1-2. The two teams will finish their two game series on Saturday at Arrington Ice Arena.
