The Adrian College ACHA Black squad completed a successful weekend on Saturday by downing the Michigan State Spartans on home ice 5-3, to earn a three point weekend against the Spartans.
The Bulldogs and Spartans traded goals in the game's first period, as Adrian goals by sophomore forward Patrick Campbell and freshman defender James Howell were countered by Austin Rothe and Chris Coyne for the Spartans.
The second period belonged to the Bulldogs, however, as Adrian scored the only two goals of the period as freshman forward Robert Bathory and sophomore forward Andy Petersmark each connected on even strength goals to give the Bulldogs a 4-2 advantage after 40 minutes.
Adrian upped their advantage to 5-2 early in the third period on a power play goal by sophomore forward Alex Armour, before the Spartans added their final goal on an even strength marker by Zach Beaumont. Michigan State could get no closer, however, as Adrian freshman goaltender Gilbert Oldreive turned away 27 shots for his second win of the season.
In addition to his goal, Campbell enjoyed a three point night by adding a pair of assists. Freshman forward Adrien Sebag also added three assists on the evening for the Bulldogs, who now find themselves unbeaten in their last three games.
The Bulldogs next action will be Friday night, October 30, when they square off against the Davenport Panthers, with face off slated for 7:00.
