BYRON CENTER, Mich.--The Adrian College ACHA Division lll Black squad went on the road Friday night and dropped game two of their two game set with #3 ranked Aquinas 7-3 at South Side Ice Arena.
The Bulldogs, who fell in game one 6-1 at Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday, were able to put three pucks in the net against the powerful Saints squad, but it was not enough as Aquinas scored four times in the first period to take a 4-2 lead and outscored the Bulldogs 3-1 over the final 40 minutes to get the win.
After the Saints had taken a 2-0 advantage with a pair of goals by William Warren and Calvin Wojtaszak in less than a minute, Adrian retaliated with a pair of goals by forwards freshman Adrien Sebag and sophomore Patrick Campbell less than 27 seconds apart to tie the score.
But the Bulldogs then saw Aquinas go on a run of five unanswered goals, including two in the final 1:35 of the first period, until Campbell added his second goal of the night with just 24 seconds remaining in the contest. For Campbell the goals were his 9th and 10th of the year, tying him with Sebag, whose first period marker was his 10th of the year for the Bulldogs.
Despite the loss Adrian freshman net minder Gilbert Oldreive made 28 saves for the Bulldogs, as Aquinas outshot Adrian 35-25.
The Bulldogs will now enjoy Thanksgiving break before returning to Arrington Ice Arena to face Northwood on Thursday, December 1 at 7:00 pm.
