ADRIAN, Mich.--For the second time in three weekends, the Bulldogs women's bowling team captured first place in a tournament event. Even sweeter is the fact that the team earned its second win while making its home debut at the Adrian College Open at the Lenawee Recreation Bowling Center over the weekend. Adrian knocked down 6,402 total pins to lead Alma College (6350) in the nine-team field.
The Bulldogs were down by 17 pins going into the last game and finished the afternoon with a 233, taking the lead and tournament title from Alma after the Scots shot a 165 in the final stanza.
Adrian was led by all-tournament choices senior Taylor Ouellette and sophomore Jennifer Kelly. Ouellette finished third overall out of 57 individuals after compiling 772 pins over four games, a 193 average. Kelly came in fifth with a 740, or a 185 average. Sophomore Noelle Scheuer (21st, 673, 168.25) and junior Brittney Antonelli (22nd, 669, 167.25) also placed in the Top-25.
"We are very excited with the victory, as this team is headed in the right direction with the AC Open Championship," Adrian coach John Essenmacher III said.
AC Scots players held the top-two positions for the individual title: Heather Lafnear (810, 202.5 avg.) and Lillie Miller (792, 198).
The Bulldogs return to the lanes on Saturday and Sunday at the Raider Classic in Dayton, Ohio.
