BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – For the third straight season, the ACHA DI men's hockey team and Davenport squared off in the GLCHL Championship. The Bulldogs claimed a 4-2 victory over the Panthers and improved to 30-4 this season.
In the first period, Adrian was able to take control of the game in the early going, and they started the scoring in the game at 7:07 of the first period on a power play goal by Justin Fisher. The Bulldogs were able to control the remainder of the period and they scored one more goal in the period as Robert Bodette lit the lamp at 16:41 to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Davenport started to turn the tables in the second period, but they were unable to score until a power play chance with 4:45 left in the period. However, the Bulldogs came right back and scored less than a minute later to retake a two-goal lead on the game-winner by Chris Derochie. Adrian led 3-1 heading into the third period.
Adrian was able to take a 4-1 lead at 5:52 into the third period as Alex Dobrzeniecki scored for the Bulldogs. The Panthers had a few power play chances in the third period to try and start their comeback, but they were unable to do so until the Panthers were able to score off a faceoff at 13:30 into the third period, but Davenport could not get any closer as they lost to Adrian 4-2. Austyn Roudebush made 30 saves for the Bulldogs picking up the win.
