The Adrian College ACHA Division I hockey team saw a late lead slip away on Friday night, as they fell to University of Michigan Dearborn in overtime 4-3 at the U of M Dearborn Fieldhouse. Adrian held a 3-2 lead into the game's final minute, until the Wolverines Gino Darin scored a power-play goal to tie the game with just 57 seconds remaining, sending the contest to overtime. In the extra session U of M Dearborn's Nic Laburn secured the victory for the Wolverines with another power-play marker with 1:03 remaining in the overtime.
The Wolverines jumped to an early lead scoring two goals just 15 seconds apart, five minutes into the contest on even strength tallies by Tyler Groat and Jeffrey McFarland.
But the Bulldogs got within one before the end of the period, as Trevor Benaglio scored with assist from Nick Balavich which and Jeff Fisher.
The second stanza belonged to Adrian, as the Bulldogs rallied out of the gate with goals by Ken Winter and Bobby Bodette in the first 5:17 of the period. The Bulldogs then held the 3-2 lead until Darin's last-minute heroics.
Adrian goaltender Austyn Roudebush took a tough overtime loss, despite making 33 saves on the evening, while Wolverine goaltender Nate Ferris turned aside 31 Bulldog shots to pick up the win.
