The Bulldogs Pat Campbell and Adrien Sebag each scored third-period goals but it was not enough as the Adrian College ACHA Black hockey squad fell at Calvin College 8-2 on Friday.
The Knights tallied seven straight goals to start the contest on their way to the 8-2 triumph. Calvin's Thomas Rietema had a hat trick to lead Calvin to the victory. Also scoring for the Knights were Jordan Duncan, Alex Huizenga, Sam Shaver and Austin Kath.
Both teams played a pair of goalies in the contest as Alex Gross and Josh Templemen each gave up goals for Calvin with Gross making 20 saves and Templeman turning back five shots. Adrian split the duties between Gilbert Oldreive and Will Emch, with Oldreive stopping 21 shots with five goals-against and Emch making 16 saves and allowing three goals.
Picking up assists for Adrian were Jake Fessel, Joseph Gibbs, Andy Petersmark and James Smith.
The Black squad will be in action again on Monday, January 25 when they travel to Southfield Sports Arena to take on Lawrence Tech University. The Black squad has one final home game the season on February 4 when they face Hope College at 7 PM at Arrington Ice Arena.
