Men's ACHA Division 1 Ice Hockey

ACHA D-I Men's Bulldogs Sweep Wolverines with 7-4 Win at U-M Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich.—The Adrian College ACHA Division l men's hockey team continued its winning ways on Friday night by defeating No. 13-ranked University of Michigan at Dearborn, 7-4, to sweep the two-game series with the Wolverines.

The eighth-ranked team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I national rankings, the Bulldogs run their record to a perfect 6-0 for the season.

The Bulldogs busted open a 1-1 tie with a four goal outburst in the second period, as Marcel Kottek and Marcus Rose each scored a pair of goals on the evening to pace Adrian to the win.

Marc Peters scored Adrian's first goal in the first minute of play and it looked like that would be all the scoring in period number one, but U-M Dearborn's Andrew Spiegel tied the game with just five seconds to play before the first intermission.

Kottek gave Adrian the lead once again in the first minute of the second stanza, which was followed by a goal from Josh Hosking, to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 advantage. Kyle Schnettler brought the Wolverines back within one scoring the next goal, but Rose closed the period with a pair of goals to give the Bulldogs a comfortable 5-2 advantage after forty minutes.

The two teams each scored twice in the final period with Kottek scoring his fifth of the year and second of the night for the Bulldogs and Chris Derochie rounding out the scoring for Adrian to make the final 7-4.

Michael Barrett made 40 saves for the Bulldogs to pick up his third win of the season, while the Wolverines used a pair of goal tenders in the contest, as starter Nate Ferris made 9 saves allowing 4 goals and Thomas Proudlock was touched for 3 goals making 15 saves in relief.

The Bulldogs next action will be next Friday in Kent, Ohio, where they begin a two-game set with Kent State before returning home on Saturday for the rematch with Golden Flashes at Arrington Ice Arena at 3 p.m.
