JACKSON, Mich.--The Adrian College men's golf team fielded two squads to open the Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational on Friday at the Grande Golf Club.
The final 18 holes will be played, weather-permitting, on Saturday. Golfers tee off at 9 a.m.
Freshman Logan Heffner leads Adrian-A with a collegiate career-best of 73 (+1) for a single-round, which is good for third overall and just four strokes back of the leader. Rounding out the team score are junior Zak Hart (76, T-13th), sophomore Andrew Skibski (76, T-13th) and classmate Brandon McLean (82, T-25th).
With a 307 team score, Adrian-A leads a pair of NCAA Division II programs, Wayne State (309) and Hillsdale (313), along with Cleary-Mich. (327) out of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
Sophomore Jack Stover leads the Bulldogs' B-squad with a 79 for a 20th-place tie.
Hope College has four student-athletes in the top-10 to lead the team standings with a three-over- 291. John Van Noord of second-place Calvin College leads the 40-individual field with a three-under-par 69.
