GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--Sophomore Andrew Skibski and junior Zak Hart both had top-10 finishes to propel the Adrian College men's golf team to a season's best performance in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #4 held Monday at the Watermark Country Club.
The Bulldogs had a team score of 303--just four shots behind first-place Hope College--for second place, which betters their previous best of fifth in the MIAA#1 and #2 in Angola, Ind., and Battle Creek, Mich.
Skibski was the team medalist for Adrian with an even-par 72, which was tied for third overall out of 49 individuals and just a single stroke behind the tournament medalist. Hart also had a top-10 showing with a 2-over-par 74 for a sixth-place tie.
Rounding out the Adrian team score were sophomore Jack Stover (78, T-15th), who tied his season-low for the second outing in a row, and freshman Logan Heffner (79, T-21st). Sophomore Mo Harb contributed an 82 for T-29th.
Sophomore Brandon McLean competed as an individual for Adrian and recorded an 85 (T-36th).
Hope was the team winner with a 299. The Flying Dutchmen's Winton Munch and Grant Brettnacher of Trine University shared medalist accolades with an identical 71 (-1).
The Bulldogs will be idle until Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8, when they conclude the fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule with the MIAA Fall Championships at the Battle Creek Country Club. The event is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. both days.
