@ACBulldogGolf in Fifth Place after Round One of 2017 MIAA Men's Golf Championships

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.--Adrian College shot an opening-day team total of 309 for fifth place at the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Golf Championships, which began today at the Battle Creek Country Club. The final 18 holes will have a new shotgun start time of 9 a.m. Saturday.

Junior Andrew Skibski is pacing Adrian with a one-under-par 71, which is only two strokes off the leader Daniel Settecerri from Hope College. Skibski is in a four-way tie for fourth overall.

He was followed by teammates senior Zak Hart with a 76 (T-17th), and freshman trio of Brett McGugan (79, T-26th), Hayden Winch (83, T-35th), Noah Kosal (84, T-38th). Another highlight was junior Trevor Boyd shooting a career-best 75 in his first season playing collegiate golf; he is an All-American winger for NCAA Division III men's hockey power Bulldogs.

In the team standings, Hope has a narrow lead over Calvin College after the first 18 holes, 289 to 291.
