JACKSON, Mich.--The Adrian College men's golf team shot a team score of 317 to tie Albion College for fourth place after Friday's opening round of the Bulldogs' own Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational. The 36-hole tournament concludes at 9 a.m. Saturday here at The Grande Golf Club.
Adrian junior Andrew Skibski shot his lowest first-round score of the young season with a 71, which is one-under par for the 6,980-yard course. Also contributing to the AC team score were freshman Noah Kosal (80, T-18th), senior Zak Hart (82, T-25th), freshman Brett McGugan (84, 29th), while junior Johnathan Roscoe (86, T-32nd) rounded out the first unit lineup.
Hope College leads the team standings with a 279, Hillsdale College "B" is second with a 302, Wayne State (Michigan) "B is third with a 306, followed by Adrian, Albion, Calvin College "B" is sixth with a 327 and Adrian "B" is seventh at 332. Josh Gibson, from the leading Flying Dutchmen, leads the individual field with a nine -shot lead of 61.
Competing for the Bulldogs "B" team were freshman Hayden Winch (80, T-18th), junior Jack Stover (81, T-23rd), freshman Carter Clarke (85, T-30th), senior Josh Hosking (86, T-32nd), juniors Bryan Yim (88, T-34th) and Trevor Boyd (90, T-37th).
