Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Junior Chad Paddock and senior Hunter Hayes hit home runs, and freshman Jordan Williams pitched six solid innings, to help propel the nationally-ranked Adrian College baseball team to a 9-5 non-conference victory at Emory University on Friday afternoon.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Paddock recorded a career-high three hits, including his first home run of the season and a double, in his Adrian debut. He also had two runs batted in and he scored three times. The Comstock High School product previously played at Lake Michigan College, a junior college located in Benton Harbor.
= Junior Zack Zschering also established a career high with three hits and he had a RBI.
= In his collegiate debut on the mound, Williams allowed three runs (2 earned), five hits and two walks while striking out five Eagles.
= Senior Frank Resto, junior Dugan Darnell and sophomore Tristin Richardson added two hits apiece. Richardson had a double and RBI.
THE OPPOSITION
= Danny Kerning came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
= Jackson Grayson knocked in two runs on a single and sacrifice fly.
= Peter Freck, Emory's fourth and final pitcher of the day, went 2-1/3 scoreless innings while giving up two hits and he had two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= Paddock broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the third inning with his first home run of the season over the wall in left field.
= In Adrian's fifth inning, Hayes homered to left-center field after sophomore Gunner Rainey reached on a throwing error to lead off. Junior Justin McMann capped the three-run frame with a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to 6-2.
= The Bulldogs padded the advantage with another three-run frame in the seventh. Paddock had a RBI-double to right-center to spark it.
= The teams traded a pair of runs in the second inning. Adrian claimed a 2-0 lead after McMann reached on a fielding error to plate Richardson with an unearned run and junior Jordan Torrento drew a bases loaded walk. In the home half, Christopher Stern had a RBI-double to left-center and Michael Wilson had a run-tying single to center.
= Both teams had nine runners left on base.
= Adrian outhit Emory 14 to eight, with the Bulldogs reaching a season's best.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian and Emory met for the first time since Feb. 26, 2008, when the Bulldogs edged the then- No. 5 ranked Eagles, 12-11. Emory now leads the all-time series 4-2.
= Emory has lost four consecutive games.
= The Bulldogs are 3-0 for the first time since 2012 when they started the season 5-0 in Florida and Georgia.
