Women's ACHA D1 Wins Conference Championship

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College Women's American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) D1 team won the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association (CCWHA) Championship last weekend to make it two in a row for the Bulldogs.

Adrian played Miami (Ohio) in the semifinals, and took the Redhawks down 4-1. AC's defense showed its teeth, holding Miami to only 12 shots on goal during the game. Adrian's goals came from a pair of players, with senior Kallie Hardy and sophomore Kelly-Rae Zdan each finding the back of the net twice.

The Black and Gold followed that up with a shutout of Michigan State in the championship game, holding the Spartans to only 15 shots in Adrian's 2-0 win. Sophomore Celina Clark scored what would be the game-winning goal five minutes into the game, and senior Niclole Paradis added an insurance goal with 4:31 left in the contest.

With the win, Adrian advances to the ACHA National Championships in Frisco, Texas. The women's Division I tournament starts March 27 and runs through March 31. All games will take place at the Comerica Center, which houses the practice facility of the NHL's Dallas Stars, who are helping host the tournament.
