JACKSON, Mich.--The host Adrian College Bulldogs opened play Friday at the Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational here at the Grande Golf Club as Adrian-A is in sixth place with a 321 score while the B-team is ninth with a 329 in the 13-team field. Saturday's final 18 holes take place at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Freshman Trevor Benoit paced the Bulldogs by tying his career-low in three events with a 76, which is 4-over-par on the 6,980-yard course. That's good for a 10th-place tie overall out of 72 competitors. Rounding out the Adrian-A lineup: juniors Brett McGugan (80, T-23rd), Hayden Winch (82, T-31st), sophomore Jackson Tellerico (83, T-38th) and senior Nolan Duda (84, T-45th).
The Adrian-B squad consisted of freshman Jack Johnson (77, T-16th), sophomore Brett Dudeck (84, T-45th), junior Noah Kosal (84, T-45th) and freshmen Joe Kowatch (84, T-45th), Ryan Pinho (85, T-58th).
In addition, freshman Niko Hatz (83, T-38th) and sophomore Grant Terris (99, 69th) participated as individuals for the host school.
Jackson Jones of fourth-place Kalamazoo College (309) tops the individual leaderboard with a 71 going into tomorrow's play.
Kenyon College tops the team standings after 18 holes with a 299 collective score.
