ADRIAN, Mich.--On Saturday at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #3 contested at the Lenawee Country Club, the host Adrian College men's golf team turned in its finest effort with a third-place finish and 301 combined score, both season bests.
Sophomore Jackson Tellerico tied his career-low of 73 for a fifth-place tie overall out of 50 golfers, setting the tone for the Bulldogs who saw six student-athletes shoot in the 70s and record three top-20 finishes. The rest of the Adrian lineup included freshman Trevor Benoit (74, T-8th); junior Brett McGugan (76, T-17th); senior Nolan Duda (78, T-24th); and freshman Jack Johnson (80, 33rd). Benoit set a career-low score for seven rounds and best finish in five events.
In addition, freshman Joe Kowatch (77, T-21st), junior Noah Kosal (78, T-24th), freshman Ryan Pinho (83, T-39th) and sophomore Grant Terris (91, 50th) represented Adrian as individuals. Kowatch eclipsed his previous career-best round in his second AC event by seven strokes.
Trine University swept the team and individual titles again as the Thunder shot a combined 286 and Cameron Ruge was the medalist with a 2-under-69.
Adrian has a quick turnaround with the fourth and final MIAA Jamboree set for Monday (noon) at the Kalamazoo Country Club, hosted by Kalamazoo College, completing the month of September.
