ADRIAN, Mich.-- The Adrian College women's wrestling team battled valiantly against Elmira College, Sacred Heart University, and Emory & Henry College Saturday, November 12 at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
In the 101 class, freshman Miley Perkins went 2-2 with victories over an unattached wrestler via forfeit and Trinity Valentin (Northern Michigan University) TF 10-0.
Angel Winters of the 109 class Adrian went 2-1 this weekend and in the 116 class, while Carleigh Czerneski had a 3-0 sweep with victories over Nohea Moniz (Sacred Heart) via fall 2:02, and unknown (unattached) Forf., and a victory over Abby Duke (Elmira ) (Inj 1:04).
Angela LoRusso of Adrian went 2-0 overall with a win in the 123 class over Tatiana Walker (Sacred Heart) Fall 1:02, and a win in the 116 class with a win over Bryn Sandhu (Northern Michigan University) Fall 1:33. LoRusso finished second on the team in match points with 16. Also in the 123 class, Laila Oribello went 1-1.
The 130 class continued the strong showings for Adrian. Jaryn Strong went 3-1 and led all Bulldogs with 22 total match points. Strong had victories via one forfeit and wins over Ayeska Zanetti (Sacred Heart) Dec 8-0, and Dafne Aguilar Martinez (Emory & Henry ) TF 12-0.
Shawna Oesterling of the 136 class for Adrian went 1-1, with a victory over Carolina Maureira (Sacred Heart) via Fall 1:51. Additionally, Mackenzie Tayerle of Adrian went 1-1.
Lastly, the 143, 155, and 170 classes came up big this weekend. Clarissa Agostini (143) went 2-0 with victories over Leslie Monterrosa (Elmira ) TF 12-0, and Selena Sifuentes Shaffer (Sacred Heart) Fall 1:45. Taylor Cutler went 1-1 this weekend and Nyla Burgess went 2-0 with wins over Skylah Chakouian (Elmira ) via fall 0:31 and Madison Sandquist (Sacred Heart) via Decision 10-4 In the 155 class, Aspen Dodge went 1-0 and in the 170 class Kayley Rada went 2-0. Rada had victories over Hazel Dahlquist (Elmira ) Fall 1:13, and Cara Broadus (Sacred Heart) Fall 5:25.
In the end, the Bulldogs were third in team points with 117 and second in dual wins with 3.
