ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's wrestling team finished third out of 21 teams in this Sunday's Adrian College Invite.
In the 136 class,
Shawna Oesterling (7-3) placed 4th and scored 16.0 team points. During the first round, Oesterling won by decision over Erika Novak (Hiram College) 0-2 (Dec 8-2). Later in the second round, Oestrling was able to win off of a fall over Natalie Kutzli (Rochester University) 0-2 (Fall 1:35). In the quarterfinal match, Oesterling won by fall over
Mackenzie Tayerle (Adrian College) 6-2 (Fall 1:06). Later in the semifinal match, Hannah Palise (Albion) 4-0 won by fall over
Shawna Oesterling (Adrian College) 7-3 (Fall 0:35).
Mackenzie Tayerle (6-2), another member of the 136 class, placed 6th and scored 14.5 team points. In the first round, Tayerle won by fall over Faith Romain (Northern Michigan University ) 2-1 (Fall 1:34). Tayerle would later win by fall over Aliza Leander (Sacred Heart) 2-1 (Fall 3:30) in the second round. In the third round consolation match,
Mackenzie Tayerle would go on to win 6-2 by medical forfeit over Leah Bishop (North Central College) 2-2 (M. For.).
In the 143 class, freshman Clarissa Agostini (2-0) placed 2nd and scored 22 team points. In the first round, Agostini received a bye. Following her bye, Agostini defeated fellow Bulldog
Taylor Cutler by Fall over (Fall 2:25). In the quarterfinal, Agostini won by fall over Riley Aamold (North Central College) 1-1 (Fall 3:26) which allowed her to advance to the semifinal round against Sydney Park (North Central College). Agostini would eventually win by fall over and advanced to the 1st place match against Kendall Bostelman (North Central College), who won 4-0 by fall over Agostini (Adrian College) 3-1 (Fall 1:34).
In the 155 class, Aspen Dodge (6-2) placed 4th and scored 16.0 team points, while Nyla Burgess (5-1) placed 3rd and scored 14.0 team points. Dodge would receive a bye in the first round and would follow it up in the second round with a win by fall over Erin Riggle (Indiana Tech University) 1-1 (Fall 1:22). Dodge in the quarterfinal would go on to win by fall over Skylah Chakouian (Elmira) 6-2 (Fall 0:58).
Nyla Burges, also a member of the 155 class, placed 3rd with 15 team points scored for the day. After her first round bye, Burges would have a 6-2 second round victory by decision over Madison Sandquist (Sacred Heart) 4-1 (Dec 5-4), to advance to the quarter finals. In her quarterfinal match, Nyla Burgess won by fall over Jaelynn Trantanella (Siena Heights) 3-4 (Fall 1:21), setting up for a semifinal match against Malea Palahniuck (North Central College). In the Semifinal Palahniuk would win by decision over Nyla Burgess (Adrian College) 6-2 (Dec 2-1). Burges would bounce back, winning the 3rd place match over teammate Aspen Dodge 6-4 (Dec 14-6.
In the 170 class, Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham (4-4) placed 6th and scored 12.5 team points and Kayley Rada (3-4) placed 7th and scored 7.5 team points. In the 5th Place Match, Bo Geibe (Siena Heights) 7-3 won by tech fall over Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham 4-4 (TF-1.5 0:55 (11-0)). Rada received a bye in the first round, and defeated Alayna Smith (Siena Heights) via Tech Fall (TF-1.5 2:00 (11-0)) in the second round. Later in the quarterfinal, Andreia Langley (Emory & Henry) 3-0 won by fall over Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham (Adrian College) 3-3 (Fall 5:11).
