ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 3 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team thumped the Davenport University Panthers in a two-game conference series over the weekend, winning 9-1 and 12-1.
The Bulldogs handled their business on Thursday night at the Arrington Ice Arena, outshooting the Panthers 61-12 in the game and converting five times on the powerplay. Junior forward
Matteo DiGiulio provided a hat-trick for the Bulldogs, while graduate student forward
Brenden Stanko produced two goals and two assists in the contest.
Connor Smith,
Dakota Bohn,
Tyler Fyfe, and
Brodie Thornton rounded out the scoring in the Adrian win. Goaltender
Noah Decottignies made 11 saves for his 10th win of the season.
Saturday night saw the Bulldogs travel to Grand Rapids for game two of the series, where they turned it up even more, defeating their GLCHL rivals in another commanding fashion.
Matteo DiGiulio led the Bulldog offense once again, putting up another hat-trick, his third of the season.
Brenden Stanko followed up with another two-goal performance, along with senior forward
Henrik Overvall and sophomore forward
Sebastian Smith, who also potted two of their own. Senior forward
Sam Spaedt finished the night with a goal and three assists, while forwards
Tyler Fyfe and
Connor Smith each tallied once as part of the twelve-goal effort. Sophomore goaltender
Dylan Knighton made 17 saves for the Bulldogs, earning the victory.
The MD1 Bulldogs will have this upcoming weekend off before they welcome Purdue University-Northwest to the Arrington Ice Arena at 7:30 PM on Thursday December 1 for a GLCHL conference matchup. The Bulldogs will then travel to PNW on Friday December 2 for a 7:00 PM CST puck drop to close out their fall semester.
