ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 2 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team had a busy weekend, battling No. 3 Indiana Tech on Friday and Saturday and then No. 7 Miami (OH) on Sunday. The Bulldogs opened up their weekend at home with a 3-0 loss to Indiana Tech before getting their revenge on Saturday, taking the Warriors down, 2-1, on the road. The Bulldogs then handled the Red Hawks of Miami by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Game one against Indiana Tech saw the Bulldogs outshoot the Warriors 44-27, but come up short on the scoreboard in a defensively tight and intense game. Junior goaltender Chloe Burt was solid in net for Adrian, making 24 saves.
Saturday's contest resulted in the Bulldogs outshooting the Warriors once again, 32-24 and halting them from finding the back of the net more than once. Sophomore defenseman Allison Shaw and freshmen forward Macy Piche scored for Adrian, while goaltender Judith Schneider was stellar, stopping 23 shots, including an Indiana Tech penalty shot in the second period.
The Bulldogs returned home on Sunday afternoon where they beat Miami (OH) for the second time this season. For the third time over the weekend, the Bulldogs outshot their opponents, this time by a 36-24 total. Sophomores Rhea Peterson, Neleh Wood and Taylor Gregan provided the scoring in the win. Goaltender Judith Schneider made 23 saves, including another penalty shot, earning her sixth win of the season.
The WD1 Bulldogs, who sit at 10-3-0, will be back in action in early December when they take on Penn State University and Michigan State University in their final match-ups of the fall semester.
