Stevens Point, WI.-- The Adrian College women's wrestling team opened its 2022-23 campaign on the road Saturday, competing at UW-Stevens Point (WI) Pointer Open.
To begin the season, sophomore Nyla Burgess took runner up in the 155 lbs class. In the second round of the championship, Nyla Burgess won by fall over Maggie Mann (Siena Heights) (Fall 1:20).
In the 155 class, Megan Vondrasek took 3rd and scored 19.5 team points and Carleigh Czerneski took 3rd Place in the 116 lbs class. In the 3rd place match, Megan Vondrasek (155 lbs class) won by fall over Malea Palahniuk (North Central College) (Fall 4:00). During the third place match, Carleigh Czerneski won by tech fall over Alexis Winecke (Wisconsin Stevens Point) (TF 10-0).
While in the 4th place match, Miley Perkins won by tech fall over Amber Turner (North Central College).
Other Bulldogs, sophomore Jaryn Strong (130 lbs class), took 5th place after scoring 11.0 team points. Junior Aspen Dodge (155 lbs class) took 5th place after scoring 15 team points. Additionally, sophomore Kayley Rada (170 lbs class) took 6th.
Up Next: The Bulldogs will host the Adrian College Women's Duals next Saturday and Sunday at Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. Both Duals will begin at 10:00 AM.
