ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team earned two wins over Illinois State, and a loss to Trine over the weekend.
Friday's contest resulted in a 5-2 Bulldog win over Illinois. Forwards Dominic Melone,
Will Nicholson and
Matyas Mach tallied in the first period to put the team up 3-0 after one. Greg Obrycki found the back of the net in the second period, making it 4-1 Bulldogs after two. Illinois State would tally once more in the third period making it 4-2, before
Dominick Yamarino sent one into the empty net late in the third to secure the win. Goaltender Danny Fielding turned aside 23 shots to capture the victory.
Game two on Saturday saw the Bulldogs finish the sweep of Illinois State, winning 4-1.
Joey Finfer and Zach Skinner found the back of the net, while freshman forward Sam Carper scored twice, once on the power play and once shorthanded. Goaltender Petr Sup made 23 saves in the win.
The Bulldogs then finished up their weekend by traveling to Trine University on Sunday afternoon, where they lost 9-4. Sam Carper tallied in the first period, bringing his goal total to six on the season, while
Cole Weber,
Steven Cope, and
Matyas Mach rounded out the rest of the offense in the loss. Goaltenders Alexander Herman and Danny Fielding both saw action between the pipes on Sunday.
The MD2 Bulldogs will play a home and home series with DePaul University this Friday and Saturday, with puck drops at 8:30PM CST and 10:15PM EST.
