CLERMONT, Fla. - On Friday, the Adrian softball team played its final two games of Spring Break, coming up short against the University of Northwestern and Concordia-Moorhead.

Game 1: Adrian 3, Northwestern 6
Despite a stronger showing by the Bulldog bats in their doubleheader opener, they could not overcome a late three-run by the Eagles, ultimately leading to a 6-3 result.
Northwestern got the scoring started in the bottom leg of the third inning, striking for a three-piece to put Adrian in an early hole.
Then, in the subsequent half-inning, back-to-back RBI-doubles by
Lauren McCulligh and
Hailey DeChalk trimmed the deficit down to one run.
Two innings later, the 'Dogs found their equalizer off the bat of
Meghan Lupu, however in the bottom half of that same frame the Eagles responded with another three-run effort to restore their lead and eventually hang on for the win.
Eight different players muscled hits for Adrian.

Game 2: Adrian 3, Concordia-Moorhead 4 (9 Innings)
The black and gold's stay in Florida ended in heart-breaking, extra-inning fashion.
The Coppers nabbed the advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning, taking a 2-1 lead after
Paige Stein had pushed the locals ahead in the previous half-inning.
Once again, Adrian locked in on its equalizer in the sixth inning. This time, it was Ava Ferrarell getting credit for the RBI, and forcing some extra softball.
After a couple frames of scoreless action, it came down to ninth inning.
The Bulldogs led things off with one run in the top half, but a two-run breakthrough by Concordia in the subsequent bottom half sealed the deal.
Ferrarell led the 'Dogs offense with two hits against the Cobbers.
As of Friday, the softball team's next contest is slated for March 21 in Adrian against Heidelberg.
