ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's Division 1 ACHA hockey team opened their season last weekend with a one-sided sweep of Trine University's D2 squad. A very physical and entertaining series saw the Bulldogs come out with a 6-1 win on the road in game one, and an 11-1 dominance in game two at the Arrington Ice Arena.
The strong effort from the Bulldogs saw stellar performances from all three goaltenders, Noah Decottignies, Dylan Knighton and Harrison Fleming, who all shared the workload over the two-game series. As for up front, there was no shortage of heavy offense. Goals from ten different Bulldogs covered the seventeen total goals over the two-game set, with Senior forwards Connor Smith and Sam Spaedt finishing the series with four and three goals respectively. Freshman forward Dylan Gajewski also finished the series with three goals of his own.
The MD1 Bulldogs put together a vigorous effort in their first matchup of the season, which saw a large, loud and proud crowd come out to feast their eyes on the first game back in the Arrington Ice Arena this season.
The team will be looking to follow up their sweep over Trine, as they face Roosevelt University this Friday (7:00pm) and Saturday (1:00pm) at the Arrington Ice Arena in their first GLCHL conference matchup.
