ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team put together a strong defensive effort to sweep the Calvin University Knights over the weekend, in a two-game set, winning 4-1 on Thursday night, before shutting out the Knights, 5-0, on the road Saturday evening. With the wins, the Bulldogs clinched their seventh consecutive GLCHL Regular Season Championship, the eleventh in program history.
With major GLCHL conference implications at stake heading into the weekend matchup, the Bulldogs came out strong at home on Thursday, as forward
Matthew DiCesare opened the scoring in the first period with his 13
th of the campaign, putting Adrian up by one heading into the second frame. Forward
Sam Spaedt would then find the back of the net twice in the second period, giving the Bulldogs an eventual 3-1 lead after two. The Bulldogs then capitalized on a five minute powerplay in the final ten minutes of the game, as forward
Tyler Fyfe potted his 18
th of the season to secure the 4-1 victory. Goaltender
Noah Decottignies made 15 saves for the Bulldogs in the winning effort.
Saturday's contest saw the Bulldogs carry over their solid efforts from game one, diminishing the Knights once again, this time without giving up a goal against.

The No. 2 MD1 Bulldogs are set to travel to Lynchburg, Virginia this coming weekend for key matchups with rival, No. 5 Liberty University. The Bulldogs and Flames will face off at 7:00 PM on Friday and close out the series on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
