FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The No. 3 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team finished its first semester schedule with a win and a tie to No. 9 Indiana Tech University.
Adrian and Indiana Tech continued their heated rivalry at the Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday night with the Bulldogs coming out on top in a commanding 7-3 fashion. Six unanswered goals led to the Bulldogs holding on for the victory after a late push-back from the Warriors.
Hailey Wiltshire,
Kenna Goodwin,
Keira Eagleson x2,
Taylor Robinson,
Macy Piche, and
Kali Foerster with her first ACHA goal rounded out the scoring while goaltender
Chloe Burt stopped 18 of 21 shots for her eighth victory of the season.
To round out the series, the two top-ten nationally ranked teams met in Fort Wayne on Friday night in a much tighter contest. The Warriors pulled ahead 3-1 at one point before the Bulldogs clawed back to tie it early in the third. Foerster, Wiltshire, and Piche provided the scoring for Adrian to force overtime but with no sudden victory in the extra frame, the battle resulted in a 3-3 tie. Adrian doubled up Indiana Tech in the shot column, 34-17, leaving Burt to make 14 saves in the draw.
The WD1 Bulldogs finish the first semester schedule with a 14-4-1 record and currently sit at No. 3 in the ACHA national rankings. The team will be back in action on January 20-21, 2024 when they host No. 14 Niagara University at the Arrington Ice Arena.
