CARTA, Romania – The rosters for the 2023 World Cup of University Hockey were announced on Wednesday evening. Eight members of the Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 program will be representing Team USA and Team Canada.
Dakota Bohn,
Sebastian Smith,
Sam Spaedt, and
Dylan Gajewski were all named to the Team USA roster.
Noah Decottignies,
Matthew DiCesare,
Matteo DiGiulio, and
Sheldon Nolan landed a spot on Team Canada. Team USA will be coached by Adrian College Men's D1 head coach,
Gary Astalos, while Team Canada will be coached by Calvin University's head coach, Mike Petrusma.
Spaedt leads the selected Bulldogs with 47 points this season on 22 goals and 25 assists. Smith has totaled 45 points on the year thanks to 17 goals and 28 assists, while Bohn has 42 points with nine goals and 33 assists. Gajewski has collected 15 goals and 13 assists on the year for a total of 28 points.
For the Team Canada selections, DiGiulio has 41 points this season with 24 goals and 17 assists. DiCesare has totaled 30 points on the season with 14 goals and 16 assists, while Nolan has 16 points on defense with five goals and 11 assists. In goal, Decottignies has played in 25 games this season with a 21-2-2 record and five shutouts. He averages a 1.51 goals against and a .939 save percentage with a total of 558 saves.
The World Cup of University Hockey is scheduled to take place in Carta, Romania from April 14-19, 2023. The World Cup of University Hockey strictly uses ACHA Men's Division 1 players for Team USA and Team Canada.
The United States and Canada will use ACHA players while other participating countries will use players from the European University Hockey Association (EUHA). The tournament will be separated into two different pools with the United States in Pool A along with Hungary, Slovakia, and Sweden. Pool B will consist of Canada, Romania, Poland, and Czech Republic.
USA will face every team in its pool in hopes of grabbing a top-two spot and advance to the semi-finals before the final game on April 19. All games will be streamed worldwide and played at the Felcsiki Ice Skating Rink.
