ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 2 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team closed out regular season play last week with a three-in-three slate, defeating No. 23 University of Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday night, and then sweeping Eastern Michigan University in a home and home series on Thursday and Friday night. The Bulldogs tallied thirty times, while only getting scored on once over the three contests.
Wednesday night saw the Bulldogs travel to Dearborn Heights to face off against in-state rivals, the UM-Dearborn Wolverines. The Bulldogs took care of business as they shutout Dearborn, 5-0, securing the season series win over the Wolverines. Adrian goals came from
Sebastian Smith, who opened the scoring in the first period, followed by
Sam Spaedt,
Dakota Bohn,
Connor Smith, and
Dylan Gajewski all tallying in the second period to put Adrian up by five going into the third period. After a scoreless final frame, the Bulldogs would walk out of the Dearborn Field House victorious. Goaltender
Noah Decottignies earned the shutout and win in goal.
On Thursday night, the Bulldogs hosted what was their last regular season home game of the year, taking down GLCHL conference opponents, Eastern Michigan, by a score of 16-1. Sophomore defenseman,
Ethan McLaughlin, opened the scoring for the Bulldogs in the first with his first of the season. Forward,
Tyler Fyfe, then found the back of the net for what would be his first of two on the night. Freshman defenseman,
Cyrus Toth, would be the next to find the score sheet, lighting the lamp for his first collegiate goal. Toth would add another late in the game. Gajewski led the way for Adrian, potting four goals in the contest, while
Connor Smith also tallied twice.
Matteo DiGiulio,
Nash Hatcher,
Sebastian Smith,
Dylan Kent, and
Henrik Overvall all secured a goal each to round out the scoring. Forwards,
Sam Spaedt and
Brenden Stanko, each piled up three and four assists, respectively. Decottignies earned the win in goal, stopping 11 of 12 shots, and added a beautiful assist on the Overvall tally.
The Bulldogs and Eagles would close out the series on Friday night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, with Adrian coming out on top in a 9-0 shutout fashion.

Cameron Armstrong x2, Overvall, Gajewski x2, McLaughlin, and
Nolan Baldrica would provide the offense in the win. Junior goaltender,
Harrison Fleming, made six saves and added an assist in the shutout victory.
The MD1 Bulldogs finish regular season play with a 30-2-2 record, including a 16-0-0 record in GLCHL conference play. The Bulldogs put up an impressive 260 goals for, while only giving up 44 goals against in 34 regular season games. Adrian will now look forward to round one of the GLCHL Conference Playoffs as they host one of four Quarter-Final games this Thursday night at 7:30 PM against the No. 8 seed, Oakland University Grizzlies. The Semi-Final and Championship Games are scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday at the Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
