BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Adrian College baseball team played game two of the weekend set at Birmingham Southern as they took on Spalding University. The Bulldogs struggled as they dropped the contest 10-2.
Spalding scored a pair of runs in the second inning to take an early lead. In the fifth inning, Spalding extended the lead to 3-0. In the sixth,
Ryan Davis put the Bulldogs on the board with his second home run of the season making it a 3-2 ball game.
Spalding went on to add four in the seventh inning before adding three more in the eight to lead 10-2. Adrian looked to keep its hopes alive in the bottom of the ninth, but were sat down in order picking up their first loss of the season.
The Bulldogs struggled offensively piecing together just four hits on the afternoon.
Jaxon Clark recorded the loss in six innings of work while allowing two earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Adrian will look to bounce back tomorrow as they take on Birmingham Southern at 6:00 PM EST.
