WINTER HAVEN, Florida – On Monday, February 27, the Adrian College softball team continued its undefeated start with a 5-2 victory over Saint Mary's University and an 8-2 win over Cabrini University.

Game One

The Bulldogs took control over the first three innings against the Cardinals on Monday. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, Bulldogs Savannah Godfrey and Meghan Lupu would single, while Flesia Borck would walk, loading up the bases. After a fielding error by a Saint Mary's shortstop, Godfrey would score, tying the game at one all.

Later, in the bottom of the third inning, the Adrian College softball team would take control of the game scoring three runs to lead 4-1 over the Cardinals. During the bottom half of the inning, Maggie Leveille would single and Ava Ferrarelli immediately grounded out, advancing Leveille to second in the process. Taking advantage of the defense, Leveille would steal third and score on a wild pitch to give Adrian College the 2-1 lead. After a walk by Genna Marasco, Godfrey homered, increasing the Bulldogs lead to 4-1.

In the sixth, Saint Mary's would tack on a run, shrinking the Bulldogs lead to 4-2 heading into the bottom half of the inning. Lupu would respond to the Cardinals and doubled, putting pressure on Saint Mary's defense. With junior Karson Bagelmann up to bat, she singled and drove in Lupu. Bagelmann would follow up her single by stealing second and reaching third after a fielding error by the Cardinals. The Bulldogs were unable to drive in Bagelmann. However, Schang had little difficulty closing out the game in the seventh, as she would allow only one hit in the inning, propelling the softball team to their third win of the season.

The softball team would add on another run in the top of the fifth, after Leveille popped out to right field, driving in Bagelmann, her second run of the game. Later, Cabrini would score two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie it up heading into the sixth.

The softball team would respond and dominate the top half of the sixth inning. During the inning, the Bulldogs scored six runs to take an 8-2 lead. Brynn McKay would start the top of the sixth by hitting a hard ground ball, which resulted in an error by the Cabrini defense. After a single by Lupu and a walk by Borck, Bagelmann hit a ground ball and reached on an error by Cabrini's second baseman. During the play, McKay scored to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Next, Lupu would score on a passed ball to increase the Bulldog lead to 4-2. Borck would eventually steal 3rd, while Bagelmann took 2nd.
