Cedar Rapids, IA. – On Friday and Saturday, 10 members of the Adrian College women's wrestling team competed in the NCWWC National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Sophomore Nyla Burgess and freshman Clarissa Agostini would lead the Bulldogs after sixth and eighth place finishes Saturday.  

Representing the 109 class, Emily Mendez would secure a first-round victory after defeating Taylor McCormick of Sacred Heart by decision. Later in the second round, Mendez was defeated by Sydney Petzinger of North Central (IL). In the consolation bracket, Mendez would win by tech fall over Gabby Motz of Albion College in her first match. In her second, Mendez would lose by decision in the consolation third round. 

Bulldog Angela LoRusso of the 116 class would win via decision over Isabell Ortiz of Chadron College in her first-round match. Later in the second round, LoRusso lost to Samara Chavez of King University via Tech Fall. LoRusso would later lose her consolation round match.

Laila Oribello of the 123 class lost to Kalli Roskos of Ursinus by decision this morning. In the 136 class, Shawna Oesterling would be defeated by Jade Trolland of Simon Fraser University via Tech Fall. After receiving a bye in the consolation bracket Oribello would defeat Jazmin Gorder of Minot State via fall over in her first match. In her second match of the consolation bracket, Oribello was defeated by Emily Sullenger of Linfield University.

The duo of Taylor Cutler and Clarissa Agostini would represent the Bulldogs in the 143 class. For Cutler, she would advance after her first-round match against Khadijah Sanusi of Sacred Heart. Cutler won her first match via Tech Fall. In her second match of the afternoon, Cutler was defeated by London Huston of North Central (IL). For the freshman Agostini, she would receive a bye in the first round and match up against Celina Cooke of Colorado Mesa University in round two. During her match, Agostini would advance after beating Cooke via Tech Fall. In the quarterfinal, Agostini's run in the championship bracket would end after losing via fall to Katie Lange of Augsburg University. Later in the fourth consolation round Agostini would win by fall over Erica Schroeder (Colorado Mesa University). In the fifth round, Agostini would be defeated by Lili Ujfalvi (Gannon University) by fall and would be inserted into the seventh-place match. During the match, Zoe Gress (East Stroudsburg University) won by fall over Agostini. After her loss, Agostini would place eighth.  

In the 155 class, Nyla Burgess would receive a first-round bye. In the second round, Burgess would defeat Jordan Johnston of Schreiner University via tech fall to advance to the quarterfinals, where she would face off against Tiera Jimerson of North Central (IL). During her quarterfinal, Burgess would end the match victorious, winning via tech fall over Jimerson. With her win, Burgess would advance to the semifinal in a bout against Dalia Garibay of Colorado Mesa University. In the semifinal, Garibay won by decision over Burgess. Later Burgess would suffer losses in the consolation semi and the fifth-place match. After her loss in the fifth-place match, Burgess would place sixth. 


Bulldogs Sienna Lejeune and Yamilex Perez of the 191 class would suffer defeats in the second round. They would later drop their matches in the consolation bracket.
