ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 3 hockey team earned a huge sweep over Western Michigan this weekend, defeating the Stallions 8-4 on the road and 5-4 in an overtime thriller at home. Ahead of the game on Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs honored their only Senior from the Class of 2024,
Will Smith. The team celebrated his four-year career with a ceremony before and a video tribute after the game.
The Bulldogs dominated the Stallions in game one on Saturday night, earning the win for
Brandon Hiuser and
Cade Cavanaugh who both saw action in between the pipes.
Adrian returned home on Sunday for what was a much closer and more exciting game, as it was the Bulldogs who came out on top thanks to a clutch overtime face-off goal from captain,
Evan Bliss and
Antonio Briggs-Blake.
Brian Tanner,
Henry Darnell,
Travis Symons, and
Anthony Alfonsi, who scored late to tie it, sent the Bulldogs to the extra frame before the home team sealed it with ten seconds left in overtime. Goaltender
Rex Goldberg made 37 saves in the win for Adrian, who now sits at 5-15-2 on the season.
The MD3 Bulldogs will face off against Saginaw Valley State next weekend in a home and home on February 3-4.
