SAULT ST. MARIE, Ontario. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team traveled to both the American and Canadian sides of Sault St. Marie this weekend, taking on the Lake Superior State Lakers and the Sault College Cougars in a three-game weekend.
The Bulldogs opened with a tight 1-0 loss to the Lakers on Friday night in Sault St. Marie, Michigan.
Matthew Ryynanen made 40 saves in a stellar performance for his team between the pipes.
In game two on Saturday, Adrian and LSSU continued to claw back and forth but it was the Lakers who prevailed for the sweep, winning 5-2. Adrian goals were scored by
Greg Obrycki and
Brady DesMadryl. Ryynanen and
Alexander Herman saw action in goal for Adrian, with Ryynanen making 10 saves on 12 shots, while Herman made 27 saves on 29 shots. The Lakers added an empty-net goal late in the contest.
To wrap the weekend on Sunday, the Bulldogs traveled across the border to Sault St. Marie, Ontario where they clashed with the Cougars from Sault College. Regulation did not solve this one as the teams were tied at 3-3 after three periods. The Cougars eventually closed it out in overtime to win 4-3 and send the Bulldogs home without a win. Obrycki,

Brayden Morris were the goal scorers for Adrian in the Sunday defeat. Herman stood in goal for the Bulldogs, making 35 saves.
The MD2 Bulldogs will take on Davenport University this coming weekend in a home-and-home series on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.
