ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team swept the Denison Big Red in their opening series of the 2024-25 season this weekend, taking down their opponents from Ohio 5-3 on the road and 7-0 at home.
The Bulldogs opened the weekend on the road to Granville, Ohio on Friday where they came out on top to kickstart the year. Adrian received goals from
Greg Obrycki,
Brayden Morris,
Jack Kraemer,
Griffin Clark, and
Jackson Hildebrand, who potted his first career college goal and the ultimate game-winner. Goaltender,
Matthew Ryynanen, earned the first win of his college career in between the pipes for the Bulldogs.
Adrian and Denison met again at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon where it was all Bulldogs for the entire contest.
Braeden Gray,
Gabe Vijuk, and
Jack Waldo scored their first career college goals, while
Nolan Baldrica,
Michael Tucker, and two for Morris rounded out the scoring. Ryynanen stopped every shot he faced to earn his second straight victory and first career college shutout.
The MD2 Bulldogs will now look ahead to their series with Michigan State University next weekend. The Bulldogs will head to East Lansing for game one on Friday, October 11 and then return home for game two on Saturday, October 12.
