ADRIAN, MICH. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the annual Adrian Invite on Saturday, clinching second place among eleven competing teams.
In the 125-pound class, senior
Adrian Rosas had a strong day, going 2-1 with his only loss occurring in the championship match. Rosas dominated his opening match with a major decision and advanced to the final with a win by tech fall in the semifinals.
Senior
Tyler Davis placed fifth in the 133-pound class, finishing 2-2. Davis won his second-round consolation match by a bye and claimed his third-round win by fall.
In the 141-pound division, senior Mack Baird secured third place with a 4-1 record. Baird won his first match by decision and advanced to the quarterfinals, where he claimed victory by tech fall. After a tough loss in the semifinals, he rebounded with a win by fall in the consolation semifinals and capped off the day with a decision win for third place.
Senior Sam Ross earned a fifth-place finish in the 149-pound weight class, going 3-2. Ross won his first two matches by decision before falling in the semifinals. He then took fifth place with a narrow 3-2 decision in the final match. Freshman
Liam Totten also competed in the 149-pound class, dominating the freshman/sophomore bracket with a perfect 4-0 record. Totten won his first two matches by decision, followed by a semifinal win by fall and a major decision victory in the final to claim first place.
In his Bulldog debut, junior
Aiden Smith excelled in the 157-pound class, finishing 3-0 and taking first place. After a bye in the first round and advancing by medical forfeit in the semifinals, Smith claimed the title with a major decision in the championship match.
Junior
Spencer Vos placed seventh in the 174-pound class with a 3-2 record. Vos won his first match by decision, faced a loss in the quarterfinals, and ultimately claimed seventh by medical forfeit.
Senior
Blake Williams emerged victorious in the 184-pound weight class, going undefeated at 4-0. Williams secured wins by fall and tech fall in the early rounds, then advanced with a major decision in the semifinals. He capped off his stellar performance with a major decision in the finals to take first place.
In the 285-pound division,
Blake Daniels finished sixth with a 1-3 record. Daniels won his quarterfinal match by decision but fell in the fifth-place match by fall.
Adrian will travel to Decatur, Illinois to compete in the Millikan Open on Saturday, November 9 with competition starting at 9:30 AM.
