HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The No. 4 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team collected a couple of wins over Grand Valley State this week in a home-and-home series. The Bulldogs came out on top in a 3-2 overtime win at home on Thursday and in a 7-0 blanking on the road on Friday.
The Lakers of GVSU took the Bulldogs to sudden death overtime at the Arrington Ice Arena in game one, holding it close as they did last season, defeating the Bulldogs in a 1-0 contest back in October of 2023. Adrian went up 2-0 early on Thursday night thanks to goals from
Mackenzie Parent and
Taryn Morris. GVSU eventually returned the favor, scoring once in the second and once in the third, tying the game and forcing the extra frame. The Bulldogs found a way to come out on top though, as Parent knotted her second of the game to secure the 3-2 victory. Goaltender,
Olivia Towpich, stopped 22 shots in her second win of the season.
Adrian molded a much better effort on Friday night, taking it to the Lakers in a lopsided shutout triumph. Adrian received goals from
Hailey Wiltshire,
Tyla Turnbull,
Ashlynn Stitt,
Keira Eagleson,
Mya Reyes, and two from Captain,
Tess McKerrow, who finished the weekend with four points. Between the pipes,
Taylor Kinkade only needed to make 7 saves in her second win and second shutout of the season.
The WD1 Bulldogs will take on No. 10 University of Michigan-Dearborn in a two-game clash on November 8-9. The Bulldogs and Wolverines will face-off in Dearborn on Friday, and at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday. Both puck drops are at 7:00 PM.
