BEREA, OHIO. – The Adrian College men's wrestling team delivered a solid effort at the BW Invite hosted by Baldwin Wallace, securing 11th place overall with 41.5 team points.
In the 125-pound weight class, sophomore Max Mader showed resilience after an early loss, earning a pin in the third round of the consolation bracket before falling in the next round. Freshman Jackson James faced tough competition in his debut, finishing 0-2 on the day.
Senior Zach Phifer, competing at 133, posted a solid 2-2 record with two pins, making it to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. Fellow 133-pound wrestler, freshman Ali Jaber, started strong with a technical fall victory in his opening match but ended the day 1-2 after narrow defeats.
In the 141-pound division, sophomore Brady Packer faced challenges, finishing 0-2. Senior Ashtyn Bennett bounced back after a first-round bye and an early loss, earning a tech fall victory before exiting the tournament in the third round of the consolation bracket with a 1-2 record.
Junior Blaise Kokkales, wrestling at 149, secured a pin in the second round of the consolation bracket before finishing the day 1-2. At 165, junior Angelo Mastroianni also notched a major decision win in the third round of the consolation bracket, concluding his day 1-2.
Freshman Drake Rorabacher, competing at 174, picked up a victory in the second round of the consolation bracket before finishing with a 1-2 record.
Senior Trenton DiGenova delivered an impressive performance in the 184-pound division, earning fourth place with a 4-2 record. After an early loss in the second round, DiGenova fought back with three pins and a decision to reach the third-place match, where he fell via medical forfeit. Freshman Ryland Ernest also made an impact at 184, securing eighth place with a 2-3 record. Ernest battled through the consolation rounds, earning a win in the fourth round before falling in the seventh-place match.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, November 27 where they will host cross-town rival Siena Heights University. The first match is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
