ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 3 hockey team was swept by defending national champion Lawrence Tech this weekend, losing to the Blue Devils 2-1 and 13-2.
The Bulldogs kept it close in the opening game on Friday night in Redford with the top team from last season. A one-goal contest which saw Adrian came up short, moved the Bulldogs to .500 on the year. Scoring for Adrian on Friday was
Travis Symons, while goaltender
Aidan Knox put together another strong performance in goal, making 42 saves in the loss. Lawrence Tech scored both of their goals on the power-play to secure the victory over Adrian.
Adrian met Lawrence Tech at the Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday afternoon to close the MCHC conference series, but it was the Blue Devils who illustrated why they claimed last season's crown, exploding for 13 goals to sweep the Bulldogs. Adrian goals on Sunday came from
Joseph Plaster and
James Schmidt.
Rex Goldberg started in net for Adrian allowing five goals on 10 shots in the first period before Knox entered in relief, allowing four goals on 33 shots. Goldberg re-entered the game for the third period and allowed four more goals on 20 shots.
The MD3 Bulldogs will return to the ice on December 6-8 for a two-game set with Davenport University.
