Men's Wrestling Secured fifth Place at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

MECHANICSBURG, PA.- The Adrian College men's wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational, finishing in 5th place out of 15 teams with a total of 117 team points. The Bulldogs were led by several standout individual efforts, with key finishes in multiple weight classes.

Senior Adrian Rosas led the charge in the 125-pound division, claiming third place with a 5-1 record. After an early quarterfinal loss, Rosas rebounded impressively, winning out in the consolation bracket and ultimately securing third via medical forfeit in the consolation final.

In the 133-pound class, Senior Tyler Davis dominated early on, going 4-0 with two tech falls and two decisions. His tournament run came to an end in the finals, where he fell by decision, but not before earning 19 crucial team points for the Bulldogs and securing a second-place finish. Teammate Freshman Ali Jaber also competed in the same weight class, finishing 8th with a solid 3-3 record.

Freshman Oscar Gonzalez showed resilience in the 141-pound division, bouncing back from an initial loss to win three straight in the consolation bracket before falling in the third round of consolation, ultimately finishing 4th with a 3-2 record.

Senior Sam Ross competed in the 149-pound class, finishing 8th with a 3-3 record, while Junior Aiden Smith was the standout performer of the weekend. Smith went undefeated in the 157-pound division, claiming the tournament title with a flawless 5-0 record. His dominant performance included one major decision, one decision, and three tech falls, with one of those tech falls coming in the first-place match.

In the 165-pound class, Senior Zach Platte finished 1-2, while teammate Sophomore Connor Williams finished 6th with a strong 4-3 showing. Junior Spencer Vos, wrestling in the 174-pound division, posted a 2-2 record, with both of his victories coming by decision and pin.

Senior Blake Williams had an impressive showing in the 184-pound class, finishing 4th with a 4-1 record. Williams secured three tech falls during his run, and after a semifinal loss, he bounced back to win by fall in the third-place match.

In the 285-pound class, freshman Scott Smith finished with a 1-2 record. 

Adrian finished with 117 team points and secured fifth place out of 15 competing teams. 

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, December 14th where they will head to Sandusky, Ohio to face John Carroll University with the first match scheduled for 10:30 AM.
