FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The No. 3 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team took on the No. 9 Indiana Tech Warriors this past weekend, coming out with a split in a crucial CCWHA conference match-up.
The Bulldogs took down the Warriors in the opening game on Friday afternoon at the Arrington Ice Arena, thanks to a 4-2 showing.
Tess McKerrow potted two goals for the home team, including the game-winning tally in the third period.
Mackenzie Parent also potted one in the game, while
Taryn Morris scored her first ACHA goal in the dying seconds into the empty net to seal the victory. Goaltender
Chloe Burt, who has backstopped the Bulldogs for the majority of the season so far, turned aside 23 of 25 shots for Adrian, earning her twelfth win of the season.
The two teams, who met previously this season, battled once more on Saturday to close the series. A 1-1 first period thanks to a goal from Adrian defender,
Kenna Goodwin, assisted by McKerrow and
Macy Piche was then followed up by a scoreless second period before Indiana Tech would find two goals in the third, including one into the empty net to secure the series split. Burt stopped 18 of 20 for Adrian in the loss.
Despite the 3-1 road loss on Saturday, the No. 3 WD1 Bulldogs collected two wins and a tie in their other match-ups with rival Indiana Tech this season. The team will now look forward to another important battle this coming weekend which will see them hit the road to No. 2 Liberty University on February 9-10.
